Ontario JHSC Certification Training

Dunk & Associates is pleased to be a CPO approved provider of JHSC Certification Training.

One of the questions we receive most often is “who needs to be certified?” Companies in Ontario with 20 or more employees are required to have a Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) that complies with the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA). For most, that means having at least 2 committee members - 1 worker and 1 management representative - certified in health and safety. We do, however, encourage all members to be certified.

Dunk & Associates has been approved by the Chief Prevention Officer (CPO) to provide the following training:

  • Part One – Health and Safety Basic Training (distance and in-class)

  • Part Two – Hazard-Specific Training (distance and in-class)

Please note that training via distance learning requires each learner's complete time and attention. This means being online, present and participating throughout the entire duration of the session (start to end). Learners should be prepared to be online promptly at the designated start time.

  • Enrolment program provides access to our Certification 24-7 online learning portal for one year from date of enrolment! Included in the portal is access to training materials, schedule of sessions, as well as library of policies, procedures, posters, and safety talks - free for you to use and share in your workplace.

  • We work with learners hands-on and encourage practical knowledge. Learners who complete certification will have the ability to submit a completed workplace inspection form and hazard assessment form to an instructor for feedback. This offer is valid for one year from date of completion.

  • There are a variety of sessions, so find one that works best for your schedule. Note, Part 2 must be completed within 12 months of Part 1.

  • Dunk & Associates Certification instructors are available at any time for support and assistance. We’re just a phone call or email away!

  • With webinar-based learning, you can attend from any geographic location in the convenience of your own home/office.

  • Dunk offers the supports, networking, tools and samples you need to succeed.

  • Need onsite support or one-to-one training? This is available as well. We have qualified instructors throughout the province. Additional fees apply.

Participants of our Certification program will receive a digital or printed copy of our Participant’s Manual. Digital copies are posted for learners under the "required certification materials" on the certification portal. The manual includes all required activities and resources required for the training. It is recommended that the participant read the overview of materials required for each session and either have them printed or on their desktop prior to each session.

Participants must also have the following:

  • Computer and/or laptop (no tablets or other mobile devices)

  • Reliable internet connection using Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, or Safari

  • Headphones

  • Webcamera

  • Microphone

  • Telephone access

  • The Adobe Connect application installed if participating via distance (don't worry, we provide a link to download)

  • Adobe Reader and Microsoft Word

Learners who choose to participate via distance learning MUST meet the technical requirements listed above. Any learner who attends and cannot meet these requirements will be removed from the class and charged a $75 administration fee to reschedule. Learners must be online at the designated start time and be prepared to be on camera and participating throughout the training.

For the purposes of Certification Training, learners must have access to a printed or electronic version of the OHSA, Guide to the OHSA, MLTSD Guide to JHSCs, WHMIS Regulation, and MOL Guide to WHMIS Legislation. These will be posted online in the Certification portal under your training printables and available on Adobe Connect.
