JHSC CERTIFICATION
PART 2 IN-CLASS LEARNING

The Part 2 Certification Training helps put concepts to practice through hazard-specific training. Dunk & Associates’ Part 2 Training meets and exceeds the minimum standards set out by the Ministry and Labour, Immigration, Training, and Skills Development (MLITSD) and is applicable to many workplaces in Ontario, regardless of sector.

As an employer, you should complete a hazard assessment and select a Part 2 provider who offers training relevant to your own high-rated hazards. You do not need to use the same provider for Part 1 and 2 training.

Dunk & Associates has selected hazards which are common to many workplaces, regardless of sector. Case studies and examples are wide in scope so learners can see how the hazard will be at play in their own work setting. Because we focus on common hazards, this means if learners switch workplace sectors, their training will always feel relevant. The goal of Part 2 training is that learners become familiar with applying R.A.C.E. (recognize, assess, control and evaluate), regardless of the hazard.

Certification Part 2 is composed of seven (7) learning modules which make up 13 hours of training. Part 2 Training must be completed within 12 months of completing Part 1. Failure to complete within the designated time frame will result in Part 1 needing to be taken again in full.

  1. Module 1: Review of Key Concepts

  2. Module 2: Control of Workplace Violence, Harassment and Bullying

  3. Module 3: Control of Infections, Diseases, Viruses and Pathogens

  4. Module 4: Control of Chemical Hazards (WHMIS)

  5. Module 5: Control of Musculoskeletal Injuries and Disorders

  6. Module 6: Control of Slip, Trip and Fall Injuries

  7. Module 7: Housekeeping, Racking and Storage

ABOUT IN-CLASS LEARNING

Dunk & Associates will come directly to your organization to instruct Part 2 to your group. You provide the location, we provide the instructor and content! We require a minimum of 6 learners to a maximum of 20 learners for in-class learning.

Our instructors will lead and guide participants through the learning outcomes. We include discussions, pop quizzes, group activities, legislation look-ups, and more. Participants are asked to share stories, experiences and participate in discussions.

EVALUATION METHODS

There are a variety of evaluation methods used throughout Part 2 Training. They are both formative and summative. A detailed breakdown of evaluation is provided in your participant manual.

During each module, there are a variety of activities to put your knowledge through the test. These activities are done either individually or as a group. When attending our training sessions, be prepared to participate and be called upon.

At the end of Part 2, learners must complete a final activity as a group. This involves a sample scenario, completion of a draft action plan and making recommendations. After the final group activity, learners will complete a final evaluation to ensure they have achieved all learning outcomes. The final evaluation is comprised of 15 true/false and multiple choice questions. Learners will be provided with 30 minutes to complete their final evaluation and will receive real-time feedback on their results. Upon successful completion, a Part 2 training certificate will be awarded.

TIME COMMITMENT

Part 2 in-class learning is comprised of two full days of training. Time commitment may be longer or shorter based on the number of questions generated by the group. Learners should be prepared to be at each session based on the agreed upon schedule.

The MLITSD requires each learner's complete time and attention when completing training. This means being present and participating throughout the entire duration of each session (start to end). Dunk & Associates cannot accommodate learners who miss parts of their sessions because of appointments, work meetings, etc. Please be prepared for all learners to be at the training for the two full days.
