COVID-19 has had unprecedented effects on our daily lives, and the Excellence Program is no exception. We’ve had many questions about the global pandemic, including how the current situation will affect our timelines as outlined on the Topic Worksheets. While we don’t have all the answers, our answer is the same answer we’re giving everyone in the situation: do your best with what you can.
Does this mean your timelines are out the window and you put this project on the backburner? For some of you, yes, this is the answer, for now. For others who are still in operation of some capacity, take advantage of this time while you can. If you have time to work on revising a policy, revise the policy! If you are able to write content for a Safety Talk or poster, do it! While some of us are working from home and searching for things to fill our days, others are simply trying to keep up with the day-to-day workload. And that’s ok!
Part of what Dunk & Associates loves about the WSIB Excellence program is that it meets you where you are at. Some of our clients have robust Occupational Health and Safety programs. Some of you may just be getting started on your health and safety journey. We’re taking the same approach to planning and helping our clients in the Excellence program as the participants.
For the time being, make the most of what you can. Update your topic worksheets as you go, as needed. If you are making drastic changes to your worksheets, please reach out to Dunk & Associates to ensure you are on the right track and the work still falls in line with the WSIB’s expectations. In June, we will be revisiting and updating as needed. Please keep in mind you will eventually be uploading your worksheets to the WSIB Excellence Portal.
