WSIB’s Health & Safety Excellence program (HSEp) recognizes an Employer’s and workplace’s efforts in safety. This program integrates the strengths of the previous Safety Groups and Workwell programs. This model provides a clear road map for Ontario businesses to improve health and safety, achieve recognition, and help make Ontario a healthier and safer place to work.

About HSEp
The WSIB’s HSEp is a program offered in Ontario only which helps Employers manage a system for occupational health and safety in the workplace. This is accomplished through mentoring, pooling of resources and sharing of best practices between members, Dunk & Associates (your Provider), and the WSIB. HSEp members can reduce their workplace injuries and illnesses and achieve rebates based on WSIB premiums paid for the previous year. Our objective at Dunk & Associates is simple – to help you eliminate workplace injuries and illness through the successful completion of your Selected HSEp topics and help you truly create a healthy safe workplace culture.

The Dunk & Associates HSEp services all industries (healthcare, manufacturing, retail, food service, automotive, transportation, construction, municipal services, and more) across Ontario regardless of geographic region. We focus on small to mid-sized businesses and corporate businesses with multiple locations/franchises. We host our HSEp orientation and meetings virtually by webinar making it easy for you to attend and, if requested, we can do site visits anywhere in Ontario for an additional fee.
How the HSEp Works

Join: Choose an approved provider (like us!), complete an assessment, and select 1-5 topics to work on that are new to your business.

Develop: Learn and implement safety topic(s) with the services and supports of Dunk & Associates.

Demonstrate: Submit evidence to demonstrate you have implemented the topic for validation by a WSIB validator.

Validate: The WSIB will virtually validate your topic evidence submissions. In addition, WSIB may select your workplace for an on-site validation of evidence.

Achieve: Receive rebates and non-financial recognition.

An HSEp participation badge visible in the WSIB Online Services Portal when a member’s action plan is approved by the WSIB (updated quarterly). Firms will receive additional recognition for each level completed. Badges can also help demonstrate an OHS program is functioning within the organization for Accreditation Canada, Ministry inspectors, etc.

Annually, an achievement report will be available to employers on the WSIB Digital Portal providing their progress in their recently completed years HSEp.

Earn WSIB Premium Rebates with HSEp
How much premium rebate might you achieve? The amount you can earn in premium rebates is based on the number of topics you complete in your health and safety action plan and your reported WSIB premiums for the previous year. For a better estimate, see our information package above or use the WSIB's rebate calculator available here.

Under the current HSEp Rate Framework, if the member’s topic has been successfully validated, a rebate will be issued based on the previous year’s premiums paid. Previous year premiums are switched to the next year on February 1st of the current year.
In addition, all members will receive a $1,000 registration credit per WSIN account that will be automatically applied once your topics have been approved digitally on the WSIB Digital Portal. This credit will be sent to the member as per WSIB’s rebate schedule. Members will pay Dunk & Associates' Invoice for registration in the program and then receive the credit later on from the WSIB.

Each firm with a WSIB account number completes an online, one-time assessment on the WSIB Online Services Portal upon registration into the HSEp to determine where your existing Health & Safety program is at.

Employers can choose to work on 1 to 5 health and safety topics in a 12-month period.

Topics provide for customization to your business size and sector – make these topics work for you! Choose your level of entry and the topics which are relevant to you.

Registration is open all year and you can start whenever you want.

HSEp Pricing
The cost to join depends on the program you select. For self-directed membership, the cost is $550 per topic for each million dollars of WSIB premiums per account number.​ For HSEp plus membership, the cost is $1000 per topic for each million dollars of WSIB premiums per account number.​ For premiums in excess of 1 million dollars and or multiple WSIB account numbers, please contact us for pricing.

Fees for the WSIB Excellence program are for a 12-month enrolment. You may enter the program at any time during the calendar year.

Unused topics will not carry over. A one-time extension can be purchased at $80 per topic for 1 month if needed to complete the program. No refunds or credits once after 30 days of registering in HSEp.

Getting started is easy!

Step 1: Download our registration form! If you're not ready to make that leap yet, contact us for a no-obligation discussion about the program.

Step 2: Decide on your level of support. Do you want a self-directed experience or do you want HSEp plus? See our information package above for more details!

Step 3: Decide the number of topics you wish to work on. You can select 1-5 topics (the more topics, the more premium rebate potential!). We can help you choose.

Step 4: Read the terms and conditions of participation in the information package and email us your registration form to excellence@systems24-7.com.
Once you sign up, you will receive a link to watch a pre-recorded webinar which provides you with all the information you need to know about HSEp with Dunk & Associates and access codes to our HSEp portal on Systems 24-7.
You will also be instructed to link your business to Dunk & Associates with the WSIB, complete the WSIB Assessment, and select your topics on the WSIB's digital portal.

Are there in-person meetings that I must attend?
No, we understand that you are busy. Instead, we host mandatory meetings and sessions via our Guidance & Instruction webinars, making it easy for members to participate. Attending all quarterly webinars are MANDATORY. If you cannot attend live, you are just required to watch the recording.
